Secretary/Treasurer Thomas McCarthy - Invite to the 2018 CMSA Convention
On April 17th, we will begin our 100th Annual CMSA Convention. I would like to personally invite you to come and join me at what will be a historic occasion.
The 100th CMSA convention will take place just steps across the street from our State Capital. The staff at the CMSA has been working hard to put together an amazing program worthy of a celebration of this magnitude. I am expecting this to be one of the highest attended conventions as we celebrate our centennial anniversary.
Part of the time, we will be looking back and reflecting on our amazing history. The CMSA and its mover members are some of the best in the industry and over the past 100 years have made great strides and left our mark on the moving industry.
One I am particularly proud of is the fact that the CMSA and its members have raised and donated over $900,000.00 in scholarships, more than any other association.
As we celebrate the past, we also will look to the future. The CMSA is very involved with the transition of our industry from the California Public Utilities Commission to the Department of Consumer Affairs, something that will be discussed extensively at this convention.
Looking further into the future, the CMSA Board of Directors has made it a priority to get younger movers involved in our conventions and industry to bring their point of view to the table. To do that, CMSA created the CMSA YP or Young Professionals group. We met for the inaugural meeting in Squaw Creek with about 10 of us, and last year we had over 30 attendees.
I ask and encourage our members to take a hard look at their up-and-comers in their business and invite them to come and participate in this historic convention. You never know, that young guy working in the warehouse, then progressing into the entry level of the office, just might one day be your CMSA Secretary/Treasurer and running your company, in what to you will feel like the blink of an eye.
-Thomas McCarthy, CMSA Secretary/Treasurer.
